The Northwest Film Center invites applications for the position of Theater Manager. This position supervises NWFC theater operations at the Whitsell Auditorium, and organizes and supervises off-site screening venues as required. This position is full-time, 35 hours per week and may include evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.  Compensation is budgeted at $15.00 – $17.00 per hour, depending on experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hires, schedules and supervises assistant managers, projectionists and box-office staff
  • Recruits and manages volunteer ticket and theatre staff
  • Is responsible for the operation of box office ticket sales and related reports and records
  • Coordinates the professional servicing, maintenance and operating condition of projection and sound equipment
  • Introduces programs and visiting guests; represents NWFC to the public and assists with hosting and organizing receptions and events connected to screenings
  • Acts as liaison to NWFC, exhibition and public relations staff and other PAM audio-visual staff
  • Upkeep and maintenance of 35mm, 16mm, digital projectors, as well as all video decks and audio equipment
  • Prepares, cleans, and tests incoming films pertaining to exhibition program. Ensures theater is in constant state of preparedness for all exhibition purposes
  • Works with Exhibition Program Manager to coordinate print/video traffic
  • Works with Security personnel to provide a safe and secure environment for the public. Maintain knowledge of and enforce capacity and other relevant safety and security regulations and procedures
  • Trains theater staff in projection, booth operation and theater presentation/announcements
  • Communicates with membership and marketing staff to facilitate membership and program information at exhibition programs
  • Develops, schedules, and trains volunteer theater staff
  • Other duties as assigned including film projection
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, meet deadlines, work under pressure with minimal supervision, and handle unforeseen situations as they arise
  • Valid Driver’s License to operate company vehicle
  • Knowledge of film is preferred; experience in live theater or film management
  • Typing and word processing skills required
  • Technical understanding of film and video presentation equipment a plus
