JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of Strength and Conditioning is responsible for the overall strength and conditioning program, facility, equipment, coaching staff, and such administrative task as preparing a budget, purchasing equipment, preparing proposals and working with schools and media. 
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to teach, lead and take charge of athletes/members through a workout, while demonstrating the key points of performance in the 9 essential movements.
  • Anticipate the potential risk for injury, take measures to remove them, and, in the event of an injury, have the ability to implement emergency medical procedures.
  • Achieve and maintain professional certification(s) with continuing education requirements and a code of ethics, such as the CSCS.
  • Coordinate time schedules for use of the facility by both youth and adult athletes.
  • Conduct orientation meetings for member/athletes on such issues as to facility rules, the value of proper training and nutrition, and the dangers of banned substances.
  • Design (or have final review of) all training programs.
  • Develop and submit the annual budget and ensure budgetary compliance through efficient financial management.
  • Direct all facets of coaching staff, program, and facility operations.
  • Generate income and budget available funds for maintenance and improvement of the facility.
  • Oversee the athletic performance operation to ensure compliance with institutional, conference, and governing bodies' rules and regulations.
  • Assists with administration of intern program, which includes planning, supervising, and evaluating.
  • Assist in fitness testing, computation of results, and evaluation of individual athletes.
  • Coach or Assist in coaching pre-programmed WODS.
  • Participate in coaching special events, challenges, and monthly community workouts.
  • Effectively and properly motivate athletes to achieve maximum potential in all areas of performance.
  • Outstanding communication skills including, email, public speaking, and small group interactions.
  • Keep updated on current strength and conditioning research.
  • Proficient at using and teaching the athlete tracking system.
  • Attend weekly and monthly staff and coaching meetings.
  • Develop coach work and supervision schedules, assign duties, and evaluate performance.
  • Maintain a performance library for professional development.
  • Oversee the selection, installation, and maintenance of performance equipment including cleaning and repair.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as requested by supervisor.
  • Perform the duties of the assistant strength and conditioning coach and facility supervisor as needed.
  • Travel with competition team and provide remote-site performance training programs, including pre-competition warm-up.
  • Work and communicate with coaches and other staff in the facility.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Human Performance, Nutrition, or a related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
  • Three to four years of experience in developing and implementing weight training programs. College level experience preferred.
  • Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist offered by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
  • Olympic lifting, Gymnastics, Kettlebell, Endurance, or other related training certifications are a benefit for this position.
  • Excellent teaching, management, communication and supervisory skills.
  • Excel in time management, organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Understanding and application of the Crossfit methodology.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests.
  • Ability to Train Large Groups.
  • Possess honesty and personal integrity.
  • CPR/AED certification
