JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Indianapolis is accepting applications for an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. This is a full-time, exempt staff position. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach serves under the direct leadership of the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and provides expertise, guidance, and training in the area of strength training and physical conditioning for all student-athletes of assigned sports teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule strength and conditioning workouts in cooperation with the head coach of each specific sport
  • Set up the schedule of strength and conditioning workouts for each sports team
  • Be present and punctual for all workouts with student-athletes. Any change in a scheduled workout must be approved by the head coach
  • Provide athletes with guidance and proper training techniques for free weights and other strength training equipment
  • Provide expertise in the area of strength (weight) training and physical conditioning as requested by the head coach
  • Assist the head strength and conditioning coach with the care and maintenance of the athletic weight room in the Athletics Recreation Center (ARC) and keep records of all equipment in the weight room
  • Update the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics (or designee) on equipment needs and/or upgrades recommended to provide the athletes with the best possible strength training equipment available
  • Maintain up-to-date records on the strength program of each team and specific individual workouts of every student-athlete
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of sport specific training techniques
  • Fulfill other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach
QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position requires a clean or acceptable driving record
  • At least one-year of experience as a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level is required (internships and educational experience will be considered)
  • A strong commitment to the Student-Athlete concept and a working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is required
  • Bachelor's degree required
